ICT health-checks

Infrastructure organisations across the East Midlands will be able to benefit from In depth ICT health-checks fully funded by BIG Lottery fund as part of an exciting new initiative. The comprehensive health-check will help your organisation to review its uses of ICT and to answer these questions:

How well are we using ICT?

What technical options and solutions are there?

What should be our priorities?

When should we replace our computers?

Is the organisation's data safe?

How much should we spend?

Do we use our existing ICT effectively and productively?

Where can we get good value technical support?

How do we develop an ICT Strategy?

How can we work smarter?

How can we use ICT for collaboration with our partners?

And what other questions do we need to ask?

What's included?

The ICT health check is an assessment of how your ICT is helping you achieve your organisation's goals and it aims to identify ways ICT developments may be used to work more efficiently. The ICT health check includes:

  • A visit from experienced staff to discuss your organisation's work, your plans for future development and how ICT can help realise them.
  • A detailed review of your organisation's use of ICT - including equipment, ICT support arrangements, and staff ICT knowledge.
  • A concise report containing short, medium and longer term recommendations to support your ICT planning, strategy development and staff training programme.

Organisations taking part in the reviews will also receive on-going help and support throughout the project to help you implement any changes and take account of the external demands, challenges and changes facing the voluntary sector.

If your organisation would be interested in receiving an ICT health check please telephone Stuart Draycott on 01623 819160 or email basis@purplezebra.org.uk

ICT workshops

Alongside the ICT health checks, the project is offering ICT workshops for third sector local infrastructure organisations. These are aimed at development workers and other staff involved in providing support to frontline organisations. The purpose of these workshops is to enable development workers to be more skilled and confident about supporting organisations with their ICT needs. For example, the workshops will provide key tools for signposting organisations to appropriate sources of help, including the wide range of ICT resources which are available online.

Participating staff will also benefit from newsletters, e-bulletins, websites and other resources providing a wealth of ICT information for use with frontline organisations together with further backup and advice by email or phone.

About the Switched On project

These ICT health checks and workshops are being provided by a region-wide ICT project funded by the Big Lottery Fund. This three year project will provide support and advice to third sector infrastructure organisations throughout the region.

The initiative is being delivered across the region by a partnership of third sector organisations: Purple Zebra (lead organisation), High Peak CVS, InvolvingLincs, Voluntary Action Leicestershire, and Northampton Volunteering Centre, with Leicestershire Centre for Integrated Living providing specialist support and advice to the project regarding ICT accessibility.
