Assisting the voluntary and community sector to develop its uses of information and communications technology (ICT)

ICT health-checks for infrastructure organisations

Free ICT health-checks for IOs

The Regional ICT Project is offering free ICT health-checks for third sector Infrastructure organisations in the East Midlands (fully funded by BIG Lottery fund)  The in depth ICT health-check can help your organisation to review its uses of ICT and to answer these questions:

How well are we using ICT?

What technical options and solutions are there?

What should be our priorities?

When should we replace our computers?

Is the organisation's data safe?

How much should we spend?

Do we use our existing ICT effectively and productively?

Where can we get good value technical support?

How do we develop an ICT Strategy?

How can we work smarter?

How can we use ICT for collaboration with our partners?

And what other questions do we need to ask?

What's included?

The ICT health check is an assessment of how your ICT is helping you achieve your organisation's goals and it aims to identify ways ICT developments may be used to work more efficiently. The ICT health check includes:

  • A visit from experienced staff to discuss your organisation's work, your plans for future development and how ICT can help realise them.
  • A detailed review of your organisation's use of ICT - including equipment, ICT support arrangements, and staff ICT knowledge.
  • A concise report containing short, medium and longer term recommendations to support your ICT planning, strategy development and staff training programme.

Organisations taking part in the reviews will also receive on-going help and support throughout the project to help you implement any changes and take account of the external demands, challenges and changes facing the voluntary sector.

If your organisation would be interested in receiving an ICT health check please telephone 01623 819160 or email basis@purplezebra.org.uk

Other support

Alongside the ICT health checks, the project is also offering other support to third sector local infrastructure organisations. These include ICT workshops , 'mini' health checks on specific topics (such as data back-up and recovery), and a range of useful information resources.

About the project

These ICT health checks and workshops are being provided by a region-wide ICT project funded by the Big Lottery Fund. This three year project is providing support and advice to third sector infrastructure organisations throughout the region.

The initiative is being delivered across the region by a partnership of third sector organisations: Purple Zebra (lead organisation), High Peak CVS, InvolvingLincs, Voluntary Action Leicestershire, and Northampton Volunteering Centre, with Leicestershire Centre for Integrated Living providing specialist support and advice to the project regarding ICT accessibility.
